Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation hosts second annual Charity Golf Outing at exclusive Manhattan Woods Golf Club

July 18, 2012

The second annual Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation Golf Outing will take place on September 10, 2012 at the Manhattan Woods Golf Club in West Nyack, New York. Rockland Toyota has once again signed on as the event’s grand sponsor. The Blauvelt firm is being joined by sponsors Lexus of Englewood, Provident Bank, Lohud-Journal News, Cablevision and Active International. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m., with a shotgun start at 11:00 a.m. Included in the registration is a buffet breakfast, grilled lunch on the course, cocktails, dinner and awards ceremony.

Founded in 1900, Helen Hayes Hospital is one of the country’s leading specialty physical rehabilitation hospitals and is internationally recognized as a center of innovation and excellence in rehabilitation medicine and research. Proceeds from the golf outing will be dedicated to a new Hospital initiative, a “Reboot & Restore Neuro Boot Camp.” The Boot Camp will incorporate the latest in cutting-edge technology to challenge individuals who have sustained devastating spinal cord and brain injuries, those living with multiple sclerosis and other debilitating neurological disorders, to push the fitness limit, break the disability barrier, and reach a new level of neurological health and wellness.

The golf outing begins with a buffet breakfast, followed by eighteen holes of golf on the spectacular Gary Player signature course. Grilled lunch will be provided, along with putting practice and other special outing events. Following a cocktail reception, the awards will be presented during dinner at the Club’s restaurant, which features a spectacular view of the Manhattan skyline. The top foursome will be awarded the second annual James G. MacArthur Trophy, in honor of the son of the hospital’s namesake, Helen Hayes MacArthur. Mr. MacArthur was a noted actor, as well as an avid golfer. Mr. MacArthur’s wife, the LPGA Pro HB MacArthur, will present the Award.  In addition to the James G. MacArthur trophy and other awards, there will be a grand raffle and a variety of exciting live auction items, including a Table at Rao’s, a New York Giants Escape, Grandstand tickets for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and Jet Blue Airline tickets. Lexus of Englewood will be providing two vehicles that will be presented to winners of the two hole in one contests.

Elaine DeFrancesco, PT, Program Director of Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation at HHH explains, “The latest scientific evidence demonstrates that even years post-injury, with intense therapy and training, further recovery and functional restoration is possible. The Boot Camp will be a tremendous therapeutic benefit to individuals living with the effects of injury and we are thrilled that the Foundation sees the value in this program and is sharing our vision of making it a reality.”
