Members Appointed to Hospital Board

Val S. Gray,  Chief Executive Officer of Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstraw, has  announced the appointment by Governor David Paterson of two members to  the physical rehabilitation hospital’s Board of Visitors.

Gov.  Paterson has appointed Wellington Y. Liu, MD of New York City to the  hospital’s Board of Visitors, for a term to expire on December 31, 2015.

Dr Liu is an  internist with Matrix Medical Network, which provides high-risk member  management services to health plans throughout the country. He also  currently serves as clinical instructor in medicine at the Albert  Einstein College of Medicine, as associate cardiologist with Medical  Associates of Wall Street, as an associate attending in the Department  of Medicine at St Vincent’s Hospital and as the Medical Director of the  Kateri Residence.

Dr Liu  received his medical degree from the Tufts University School of Medicine  and his undergraduate degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He  completed medical residencies and internships at Beth Israel Hospital in  New York and a cardiology fellowship at Bronx Municipal Hospital,  Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Liu is board certified in  Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases and is also board  certified by the National Board of Medical Examiner.

Gov.  Paterson has also renewed the appointment of Martin C. Wortendyke for a  term to expire on December 31, 2014. Mr. Wortendyke, of Upper Nyack, New  York is the owner of Cal Mart Enterprises, Inc., one of the region’s  largest construction firms, and is also the owner of the West Nyack Car  Wash and the Wortendyke Brothers Realty Company. A native of Rockland  County, Mr. Wortendyke is very active in community affairs.

Helen Hayes  Hospital is the largest and most comprehensive physical rehabilitation  hospital in New York State, helping to restore mobility and independence  to individuals with physical disabilities and chronic disabling  diseases. The hospital is operated by the New York State Department of  Health and is affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System.
