Helen Hayes Hospital has announced the appointment of Robert D. Holland, M.D. to its medical staff. Dr. Holland, who is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (Physiatry), will care for patients on both an inpatient and outpatient basis at the physical rehabilitation hospital in West Haverstraw.
Dr. Holland joins the hospital from Westchester Medical Center, where he served as Attending Physician in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Prior to that, he served as Attending Physician in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Staten Island University Hospital.
Dr. Holland received his undergraduate degree from the Plymouth State College in New Hampshire and his medical degree from the St. George’s University School of Medicine. He went on to complete an internship at St. Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey and a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Boston Medical Center. Along with colleagues in the rehabilitation field, he has published the findings of a research project on “VA-Based Survey of Osteoporosis Management in Spinal Cord Injury.”
At Helen Hayes Hospital, Dr. Holland will care for patients on the hospital’s inpatient cardiac rehabilitation unit. Working closely with an interdisciplinary treatment team, he will help patients with cardiac and lung disease, and those recuperating from cardiac or lung surgery, to make the fullest possible recovery. In addition, he will be providing outpatient medical care in a general outpatient physiatry clinic.
