Support Groups

Helen Hayes Hospital offers an array of support groups which are open to the community. The groups serve a dual purpose: They provide valuable information as well as serving as a support mechanism for individuals coping with disabling disorders. Some sessions feature guest speakers, while others follow a more informal agenda. Time is always allowed for questions and answers and for participants to share information. Caregiver's Support Group
Open to patients' family members and people in the community.
Meets third Wednesday of the month from 2:00-3:00p.m., Room GA34 in the Day Hospital on the ground floor. Facilitated by a graduate school trained Group Work social worker. For information call Barbra Sternberg, 845-786-4611.

Brain Injury
For family members and friends of traumatic brain injury survivors. Meets the third Sunday of every month, from 1:00-2:00p.m. in the Transitional Rehabilitation Center. For information call Renee Reichenbach, 845-786-4044.

Brain Injury Family/Survivor Support Group
The Brain Injury Association of New York holds its Rockland County chapter family support group the second Monday of each month at 6:30p.m. in the Auditorium. MS Support Group
For people living with MS. The meetings are directed by a volunteer member of the MS Society. Meets the fourth Thursday of each month, in the 4th floor conference room, 6:15p.m. For information call 845-425-3520.

Osteoporosis Club
Professionals from the New York State Osteoporosis Prevention and Education Program (NYSOPEP) present information on the latest medications, nutritional guidelines, research and other important topics. Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month, Recreation Room, from 10:00-11:00a.m. For information call 845-786-4772.

Stroke Club
For survivors of stroke and their families and caregivers.
Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every month, in the Recreation Room, from 11:00a.m.-12:00noon. For information call 845-786-4200.

Spinal Cord Injury
Bi-monthly Spinal Cord Injury Support Group

Muscular Dystrophy
