Dr. David Dempster

David W. Dempster, Ph.D.
Dr. David Dempster is Director of the hospital's Regional Bone Center and Professor of Clinical Pathology at Columbia University in New York. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Glasgow for studies on bone mineralization, and completed postdoctoral studies at both the University of Zurich and the University of Lyon. He has published extensively on the cell biology of the osteoclast and on bone structure in health and disease. Dr. Dempster is an Associate Editor of Osteoporosis International, and serves on the Editorial Board of Bone. The National Institutes of Health and the New York State Department of Health support his research.

Dr. Akiko IIda-Klein Akiko Iida-Klein, Ph.D.
Dr. Akiko Iida-Klein is Chief of the Molecular Biology Unit in the Regional Bone Center and Assistant Professor of Clinical Pathology at Columbia University. She obtained her doctoral degree from Osaka University in Japan and completed postdoctoral training at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr Iida-Klein's focus has been on osteoblast function and the structure and function of the receptor of parathyroid hormone, a major bone regulator. These topics have been the subject of over 40 journal articles and abstracts which she has co-authored. Dr. Iida-Klein's research is supported by the National Institutes of Health and the New York State Department of Health.
